What is a zodiac sign? Well, many people already know that every single zodiac sign is based on the birth date of a human being. The month and day of a person's birthday are what determine an individual's zodiac sign. All these discoveries through astrology are reflected in the most ancient eras of history. “The earliest known astrological records date back to Babylon, 1645 BC, and the first horoscope to 410 BC” (“History of Astrology”). Most superstitious descriptions and myths of astrology actually reveal the truth in some way, and whether people believe them or not, the debate continues. The astrological signs created by the Babylonians are divided and determined through two distinct movements of the Earth: 1) The rotation around the sun and 2) The length of the day throughout the year. Along the entire celestial band of the sun's orbital path, there is a division of 12 signs, called "zodiac signs". The zodiac (which comes from the Greek word meaning “circle of animals”) is believed to have developed in ancient Egypt and later adopted by the Babylonians. Early astrologers knew that it took 12 lunar cycles (i.e. months) for the sun to return to its original position. They then identified 12 constellations which, according to them, were linked to the progression of the seasons and assigned them the names of certain animals and people. ("American Federation of Astrologers")The aspects and details of astrology are very scientific and interesting. These are things we cannot understand without scientific reason, investigation, or study. Astrologers use various systems to establish horoscope charts. These charts then determine which horoscope corresponds to which birth month and can say a lot about which… middle of the paper… the answers to these astrological results are known, yet people continue to feel as if they are unknown because of how you seem scandalous. So, one could conclude that astrology is real, or it could be that it is just a fictional myth. So what is it all about? No one really knows, and so the debate continues.
