There are many arguments for and against studying abroad. Study abroad is a program where students attend a school outside the United States and receive academic credit for their major (New Mexico State University). Some even call it “partying abroad” because it is a “waste of time and money.” But studying in another country for a year or even a semester can be very useful. You can gain perspective on global issues, improve your language skills, learn research methods and ethics, make valuable connections, and grow as a person (Benefits of Studying Abroad). But if you're not careful, you might end up having a hard time living in another country without your parents and with immense freedom, especially if you didn't have much of it before. The opportunity to gain perspective on global issues is amazing. By gaining perspective, I mean, you can actually see what the situation is like in other countries, not just read about it on the Internet or watch a documentary on TV. If you travel to a third world country, you will experience poverty and inequality. You get to see firsthand the great wonders of the world and how other people live, all while attending school. You won't have to worry about having to catch up on all the work you miss while you're away because you're doing it while you're on vacation. Arnette 2 Research shows that living in another country significantly improves your language skills. Being surrounded by people who speak the language you are trying to learn will make everything... middle of paper... things difficult even though it is very likely that you will learn the language and, last of all, your credits may not even be transferred, which is why you need to study every aspect of your trip. There are positives and negatives to everything and these are just some of the positives and negatives of studying abroad. Bibliography "The advantages of studying abroad".
