A Description of the Organization Every Child Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit human services agency founded in 1997 by Susie Davis, a native of Pittsburgh. Every Child Inc.'s initial goal was to provide support to families with medically fragile children. Since its founding, Every Child has grown to include a range of services aimed at developing and strengthening relationships between children, adults and families. Every Child Inc. has grown to a staff of 75 and an annual budget of about $4 million. Every Child Inc. is an adoption/foster care organization in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. In addition to the base in East Liberty, Pittsburgh; they recently opened a satellite office in Moon Township, West Hills. The next six months will be focused on drafting the necessary documents; by starting a marketing campaign and finding the first families in the Moon Township area interested in becoming foster/adoptive parents. Every Child Inc. serves birth, foster and adoptive families in Allegheny and surrounding counties, and has succeeded in helping more than 3,000 children achieve loving, lasting families. All services are provided free of charge and are provided based on the individual needs of the child or family. Each child is supported primarily by purchasing service contracts with child welfare agencies, state and federal grants, sponsorships from foundations, individual sponsors through events or partnership activities. Individual and community contributions are also key sources of funding. Every child strives to remain fiscally healthy and responsible to the public. Administrative costs represent only 14% of the total annual operating budget. Every Child Inc. also embraces the diversity of communities and individuals served and represents the career advancement period (Anheier, 2005). It is important that each employee understands the philosophical foundation of the organization. Every Child Inc. employees do not all have a social work degree, only a handful of employees have a social work degree. Looking at the organization as a whole, I would say that Every Child Inc. follows the National Association of Social Workers, NASW, Guidelines and Principles. Every Child Inc. values service, social justice, the dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity and competence. Every Child Inc. values all of its employees and supervisors are always available for guidance and assistance when needed. Every Child Inc. is committed to its employees, families and the children it serves. Every Child Inc. also sends staff to training courses related to their line of work at the agency.
