Pakistan is a very distinct country with a diverse culture and hierarchical society. The Islamic religion is practiced by the majority of Pakistanis and has significantly shaped their values and traditions. In semi-arranged marriages, the final decision lies with the couple. Pakistanis who decide to undergo this type of marriage live in urban areas of the country and are generally well educated and liberal. A complete arranged marriage is achieved without compromise on the part of the potential bride or groom. Pakistanis who undergo this type of marriages live in rural areas, which are the least educated people. Like other Muslim countries, Pakistan allows polygamy in marriages. Although it is allowed, Pakistan has "strict" rules on this type of marriage, unlike other Islamic countries. A man must meet the requirements of the committee to be approved for a polygamous marriage. If a male wanted a divorce, he could do so simply by repeating “I divorce you” three times. He gives written notice to the union council and written notice will be given to his wife(s). Pakistani women, however, can divorce their husbands if they give up their financial rights. Maintain a good reputation in a permanent demand for Pakistani women. Behaviors such as divorce or rape erase their respect and cannot be maintained.
